The Product Owner is a liaison between business stakeholders and the scrum team and is responsible for defining the vision/value of the product to maximize the value of the work of the Development Team. The Product Owner is the sole person responsible for managing the Product Backlog.

 

Main Responsibilities:

    • Envisions the final product, communicates the vision to the scrum team, and motivates the team to subscribe to the vision, and sees the vision through to completion
    • Ensures management, stakeholders, and sponsors are informed and the vision is aligned with their wishes; communicates the business benefits of the entire product and each individual feature
    • Collaborates closely with the scrum team and customers to ensure there is a clear understanding of what features are needed in the product or application
    • Describes features, collaborates, and communicates with the delivery team, and accepts or rejects work results, and steers the project by tracking and forecasting its progress
    • Clearly expresses Product Backlog items writes User Stories, defines clear acceptance criteria to support the scrum execution
    • Creates, maintains, and outlines work in the Product Backlog; determines which activities will produce the most business
    • Ensures that the Product Backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all, and shows what the Scrum Team will work on next
    • Ranks the items in the Product Backlog to best achieve goals and missions
    • Maintains availability to team, showing commitment by doing whatever is necessary to build the best product possible and being actively engaged with their teams
    • Understands the market, the customer, the business domain, and the varying needs of different types of users, and works with the user group in order to make sound decisions and determine what features will be in the product release
    • Prepares the feature requirements, and leads team efforts to create user story mapping for the refinement of requirements with the Scrum team
    • Works collaboratively within a scrum team to deliver features with the highest customer value
    • Displays leadership in making clear decisions that support the product roadmap and vision
    • Promotes the product vision, and empowers the customer/business value proposition internally and externally with the responsibility for setting product direction and prioritization.


Education:

    • Bachelor's degree in a technical or management discipline
    • Master's Degree preferred
    • Certified Scrum product Owner


Experience:

    • 5 years of experience as a Product Owner
    • Experience in Healthcare or CAHIMS, CPHIMS Certifications preferred
    • Strong understanding of Scrum practices, particularly around estimation, measuring business value and prioritization.
    • Strong facilitation, conflict resolution and communication skills.
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and influence others
    • Pro-active problem solver who can strive for clarity in chaos
    • Strategic thinker who can apply business priorities to decision making
    • Ability to make decisions based on what's best for the capability and the business
    • Experience documenting functional or user interface requirements a plus
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and influence others
    • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, Office 365).
    • Experience with the Atlassian product suite (JIRA, Confluence).
