Hudson River Healthcare selects MedAllies...
2/3/2008
MedAllies is pleased to announce that Hudson River HealthCare,
Inc. has selected MedAllies and eCW for their electronic medical record and
practice management system.
"We are so pleased to have this opportunity to work with MedAllies and
eClinicalWorks because they both share our vision of using technology to
improve the quality of care in our communities," said Anne Kauffman Nolon,
MPH, chief executive officer of Hudson River HealthCare.
Dr. Paul Kaye, chief medical officer, said he’s pleased to be partnering
with MedAllies Inc. and eClinical Works.
"This will be a big upgrade for us," Kaye said. "It’s very exciting."
The new system will replace an electronic system some health centers have
had since the year 2000. At other centers, including those in northern
Dutchess County, it will mean nurses and doctors will chart information on
computers, instead of the traditional paper method.
Peekskill and Monticello will be the first health centers to receive the new
software. All the remaining health centers should be fully automated within
the next 18 months, Kaye said. It will take six months to prepare a location
for the changeover.
When up and running, doctors will be able to print out graphs showing
patients’ progress and enter prescription information that would be
submitted via a secure system to pharmacies. The system red-flags patient
allergies for doctors and notifies them when patients are due for flu shots.
It should speed up check-in times and make lab tests and x-ray results more
readily available, Kaye said.
Clinic officials will also be able to monitor how long patients have to wait
for their appointments, something that is done manually now. "Service will
improve. Quality will improve," Kaye said. In the future, patients could
use a bubble sheet to sign in, or they could schedule their own appointments
for doctor visits using a touch screen in a kiosk.
Founded in 1975, the mission of Hudson River HealthCare is to increase
access to comprehensive primary and preventive health care and to improve
the health status of communities, especially for the underserved and
vulnerable, according to a statement from Hudson River HealthCare.
